About

I have enjoyed 20+ years of professional devotion to graphic design, typography, and creative thinking. Content drives my visual solutions. My unique, personalized approach centers around respectfully asking thoughtful questions to get to the essence of the issue. As a hands-on, creative director, I have a passion for bringing strong, sophisticated concepts to life. This combination of attributes has resulted in successful projects for clients such as  3M, Aveda, Boston Scientific, The Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, National Geographic, Nestle, Ogilvy, Penske, Pew Charitable Trusts, the Library of Congress, Porter Novelli, and Target Corporation.

In addition to creating communications pieces and installations, I have taught and lectured as a Professor of Typography and Design at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) as well as the College of Visual Arts in St Paul; have won awards such as the AIGA’s Fifty Books and Fifty Covers, Type Directors Club Annual Corporate Identity Award; and toured Italy studying letterforms with the Legacy of Letters.
